ABOUT ME Hello, Please allow me to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me. My name is Janet Peterson and I am Toni's Daughter. I am a professional long arm quilter and have been in the long arm quilting business for just over 4 years. The name of my long arm business is also Toni's Daughter.
I am married to a wonderful man whose name is Al, and together we have three boys. Alan, 21 and living on his own. Nathan, graduated from high school last Spring, just turned 19 and lives at home. My youngest is Randy, 17, at home and a senior in high school. We live in the Village of Solon Springs WI, a tiny spot in Northwest Wisconsin.
The name Toni's Daughter, comes from being just that. My mom, Toni
Gotelaere, is a long time quilter. When I first started quilting, and
going with her to the dens of iniquity (Quilt Shops) she would introduce me to whomever was there and then disappear down an aisle of fabric. After that, no matter where I went quilt related, there was always at least one person that knew I was Toni's daughter and that's how they would introduce me to the group. This
gave all those quilters a reference as to who I was as mom is well known in the quilting community there. The name stuck and when I started my longarm business, Shirley, one of the neatest, most giving quilters in all of Minnesota, suggested I use that for a business name. So, I did. I decided to carry it over to the Cottage as the local quilter's all know that name and it also
stays as a tribute to my mom, who got me started in this great
My mom has taught me almost everything I know about quilting, from the first hand pieced 4 patches to Water Color Irish Chain & Stack & Whack quilts. The only area my mom doesn't have extensive knowledge in is the long arm area of quilting and she's working on that!
The Quilting Cottage is the combining of a dream and a passion. I have wanted to have a B&B for as long as I can remember and my passion for quilting you can all relate to. In combining these two things, I have found a way to live my dream indulging my passion. My husband and I own and run the cottage, although Al is more of a silent partner here at the cottage, which is how he likes it. Parts of our mission statement, put into a nutshell what the vision for the cottage is. It reads as follows;
"Our top priority here at the Cottage is the guest. We strive to provide the guest with a truly one of a kind experience, one that exudes pampering and comfort."
